2016 Steamboat Captains
Jeff Kula, Nichole Kwee, and Ryan Gorman
Jeff Kula (JK, #0): Jeff joined Steamboat in 2015. He has previously played for and captained Ohio State Leadbelly (college), Madcow (club open), and Santa Maria (club mixed), reaching Nationals with each team and finishing as high as 7th with Santa Maria. He has played in the AUDL, for both the Columbus Cranes (2012) and the Cincinnati Revolution (2013-14). He also currently competes with OhiOld, the Masters team out of Ohio who finished 7th at Nationals in 2015.
Nichole Kwee (Nichole, #23): Nichole joined Steamboat in 2015 after moving to Cincinnati from Rice University. She started playing ultimate as a freshman at Rice and captained the team for its second consecutive DIII National Championship win her senior year (achieving First Team DIII All Region Player of the Year honors in 2015). Nichole played for Tempo (San Francisco Bay Area) and acted as a practice player for Texas Showdown in 2014.
Ryan Gorman (Gorman, #5): Ryan has been playing with Steamboat since 2010 and also captained in 2011, 2012, and the start of the 2013 season before moving to Colorado for a couple years. He is now back in Cincinnati and enjoyed the opportunity to lead Steamboat again in 2016. Prior to playing with Steamboat, Ryan started playing ultimate in 2005 with his high school team. He then played all four years at Notre Dame (achieving First Team All Region honors in 2009). After a summer playing club ultimate in Minnesota in 2009, Ryan returned home. Ryan also played with the Cincinnati Revolution in the AUDL (2013 and 2016) and has captained Beachboat Ultimate in the USA Ultimate beach division (2015-2016).
